Another application holding yum lock.

Many a times it so happens that when you trying to do some stuff with yum command when you are connected to internet. It shows

“Another app is currently holding the yum lock; waiting for it to exit…”

you can resolve that by following the command

# ps aux | grep yum

This shows you the processes holding the yum lock.

Now you can do:

# kill -9 31542
or
# kill 31542

or whatever the processes may be.

Now your yum will work fine.
